One-Year Insight Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program

Insight Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

A Year of Reflective Learning

Many experienced clinicians reach a point in their careers where they want more than another workshop or CPD event. They are looking for time to think, opportunities to discuss challenging clinical work, and an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the people they work with every day.

The One-Year INSIGHT Program was created for this purpose and is designed for psychologists, general practitioners, and other mental health professionals who want to deepen their understanding of psychotherapy without undertaking a formal registrar pathway.

The one year program offers a year of seminars, reading, clinical discussion, and reflective learning grounded in contemporary psychodynamic practice.

Whether you are seeking fresh ways of understanding your patients, greater confidence in working with complexity, or simply the opportunity to think alongside experienced colleagues, the program provides a supportive learning community for practitioners committed to ongoing professional development.

Insight Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

A Community of Reflective Practice

Participants explore clinical dilemmas together, engage with contemporary psychodynamic ideas, and develop a shared language for understanding relationships, emotion, and therapeutic process.

What the Year Looks Like

Throughout the year, participants engage in four terms of seminars (8 weeks for each term) comprising reading, case discussion, and reflective dialogue within a carefully integrated curriculum.

The program is designed to provide participants with the opportunity of thinking more deeply about clinical work, linking psychodynamic ideas directly to the therapeutic challenges they encounter in everyday practice and develop a psychodynamic sensibility.

Rather than a series of stand-alone workshops, it offers a sustained year of learning within a community of practitioners committed to reflective clinical practice.

Curriculum

Term 1 — Theoretical Foundations Introduces the historical and philosophical roots of psychodynamic thinking, from Freud through object relations, self psychology, and contemporary field theory.

Term 2 — Assessment and Therapeutic Technique Covers psychodynamic assessment and formulation, the therapeutic frame, and working with transference, countertransference, and resistance.

Term 3 — Brief Psychodynamic Approaches Explores time-limited psychodynamic work using the Core Conflictual Relationship Theme (CCRT) method, from assessment through to termination.

Term 4 — Application to Specific Presentations Applies psychodynamic thinking to depression, anxiety, personality vulnerabilities, psychosis, and trauma, closing with each participant's own integration as a therapist.

Continue Developing as a Clinician

CPD hours are the easy part. The harder, more useful part of PD is continuing to refine how you think, listen, and understand the people who seek your help.

There are no assessments, examinations, or endorsement requirements. Participants join simply because they want to continue growing as clinicians.

If you are looking for a year of serious psychodynamic scholarship and genuinely stimulating clinical conversation, we would be delighted to welcome you into the Insight learning community.
